Dear John,
Happy New Year! It was a turbulent week in Washington, DC. But, 5 days and 15 votes later, a Speaker of the House was finally elected and I was sworn in as your Representative in Congress.
Despite the chaos and confusion in Washington, we started the new year off with some very good news. Several new laws took effect that will benefit Inland Empire residents. As of January 1st, the price of insulin for Medicare beneficiaries is now capped at $35 and new electric vehicle purchases are eligible for up to a $7,500 tax credit – thanks to the Inflation Reduction Act. The CHIPS and Science Act we passed last summer has already resulted in new semiconductor facilities being built across the country, with tens of thousands of new jobs created. And funding to our schools from the bipartisan gun safety reform legislation will continue to make our children safe.
I will always put our region and our residents first. I will fight hard to safeguard the progress we made these last two years to lower costs, create better-paying jobs and make our communities safer. I am prepared to do everything in my power to stop House Republicans from enacting cuts to Social Security and Medicare, making abortion illegal and undermining our Democracy.
I’m ready to get to work for the Inland Empire and deliver the resources necessary to meet the needs of our community.
Thanks,
Pete Aguilar Member of Congress
