Dear John,
Swearing into the 118th Congress
I am humbled and honored to be sworn in as the new United States Representative for the 16th Congressional District of Illinois this week. Over the past seven years, it has been a privilege to represent central and west-central Illinois. I look forward to continue serving our region, representing central and northwestern Illinois, continuing my commitment to high-quality constituent service, and preserving our conservative and Midwestern values.
On the Ways and Means Committee and Intelligence Committee, I will work to advance policies that prioritize Illinois, get our economy back on track, expand trade markets, support agriculture, increase rural health access, and protect our national security interests.
While the election of a Speaker was arduous, I am pleased that our Republican Conference unified behind Kevin McCarthy. The American people elected a Republican majority to place a check on the Biden Administration, address out of control inflation and rising costs, secure our southern Border, and restore our energy independence. Under Speaker Kevin McCarthy's leadership, House Republicans will hit the ground running to deliver for the American people.
I joined WGN and WJBC to discuss the week in Washington, the Speaker's vote, and our goals in the new Congress.
If you or your family live in the 16th District and need assistance, please don't hesitate to call my office at (309) 671-7027 or at lahood.house.gov/contact.
As always, thanks for subscribing to newsletter!
Sincerely,
Darin LaHood Member of Congress |
