Happy 2023 fellow Democrats!
I hope you all had wonderful holidays that you were able to spend with your family that was full of cheer and love. We certainly had quite a bit to celebrate this past holiday season.
I cannot say it enough, I am forever grateful for your commitment and the endless exhausting work you did to help Michigan have one of the best (and most historic) elections in recent history. Thank you and thank you to your family and friends that you recruited and for all of you keeping and working towards our end goal of a victorious November.
Here are some key highlights: |

This is the breakdown of our robust mail program designed to ensure we touch base with every single Democratic and Moderate through the entire election cycle. |
As you can see, we had a widely successful campaign cycle in 2022. We could not have done it without all of you - your time, your money, and your commitment to the core Democratic values.
As we get your feet settled underneath ourselves and turn towards 2023 here are a few of our priorities that require the support of the county parties, along with the entire MDP team. -
Successful 2023 February convention: I encourage all members of the Michigan Democratic Party to join us for our state convention at Huntington Place in Detroit on February 11, 2023. We'll come together on the convention floor to elect party leadership for the next two years. You can also participate in your Congressional District's meeting or join a statewide constituency caucus meeting. Sign up for convention related updates.
-
Help recruit Democratic candidates for all levels of government. This includes school boards, library boards, county commissions, city councils, and mayors. I know I have said this about 1000 times, but all politics are local and we are going into 2023 looking closely at municipal elections and where we can be most successful in electing candidates that are willing to support the core Democratic values. If you have questions or ideas, please reach out to your Project 83 organizer.
-
Hold our lawmakers accountable. This includes candidates on both sides of the aisle. The Republicans need to be held accountable for any bills or procedures they attempt to engage in that either directly or indirectly hurts Michiganders. In that same light, Democrats ran on a progressive agenda with a commitment to overturn all of the bad work that the Republicans have done over the past 40 years. Let’s make sure they are continuing to listen to their constituents and are moving that ball forward. Let’s not forget to praise the Democrats when they do work, because as we know - #DemocratsDeliver.

Support the Michigan Democratic Party. Though 2022 might be over, we have jumped headfirst into 2023 and 2024. To properly kick us off, as I have mentioned, our 2023 convention will be on Saturday, February 11 at the Huntington Place in Detroit. For more details on our website. The convention is just the start though. We need folks watching, listening, and documenting the things our elected officials from the top of the ticket to the bottom and doing and report those back to the MDP as soon as possible. 2023 and 2024 will be big years in politics, with the President at the top of the ticket, the entire State House and U.S. House of Representatives all the way down t0 a slew of school board elections. We don’t have a minute to waste if we want to own the narrative and start supporting our incumbents and recruiting new Democrats to win. I know all of you are all up to this challenge and I can’t wait to see what we are able to do in 2023! As an additional reminder, we cannot do all of this work without your financial support. If you are interested in contributing more than your member dues, please reach out to finance director, Brandon Hynes.
I hope to see you all at our February 11 convention at Huntington Place in Detroit. As always, I am in awe and deeply thankful for the work you do to make Michigan a better place to live, thrive, and work. Don’t hesitate to reach out if I or any other MDP staff can be of assistance. In Solidarity, |

All members of the Michigan Democratic Party are cordially invited to the 2023 Spring State Convention on February 11, 2023 at Huntington Place in Detroit.
At the 2023 Spring State Convention, Michigan Democrats will meet as a party under new congressional districts. Together, we will elect district officers, members, Chair, and Vice-Chairs to the State Central Committee. These party leaders will guide Michigan Democrats to victory in 2023 and beyond. |

HAPPY NEW YEAR!
Happy New Year from the Voter Protection Team! We hope you enjoyed a restful and happy holiday season. After last month's protracted (and pointless!) recounts of Props 2 and 3, which did not (and could not) change the outcome of the election, we are very glad to be back to productive work! We are laying the groundwork for the year ahead and look forward to being back in touch with the wider voter protection volunteer team in the coming weeks and months.
As you know, there is a lot happening in our state, and 2023 will be a very active year for voter protection. We'd love to have you on the team to build on all the work we’ve done in recent years to fight voter suppression and defend democracy. If you haven't already, please let us know how you'd like to be involved with voter protection this year by filling out this form.
In the meantime, we're excited to see many of you at the Spring State Convention next month. Please be sure to look for us there if you attend!
