Greetings!

Happy New Year! I wanted to take a moment to share with you a recap on what happened last week in Texas' 22nd District and the United States House of Representatives.
This Week in Washington
Rep. Troy E. Nehls on the Election of Kevin McCarthy as Speaker of the House
Early Saturday morning, the 118th Congress elected Kevin McCarthy as Speaker of the House of Representatives. McCarthy won 216-212, with only six members of the Republican Party withholding their votes in support of him. I voted in support of McCarthy on each ballot, with the number of ballots being more than any Speaker's election in over 100 years.

As a proud member of the House Freedom Caucus, you can be sure we'll hold Kevin to his word and put the interests of the American people first. I won't stop fighting for Texas, America, and our conservative values. I'm ready to pass legislation that strengthens our economy, makes our communities safer, and curbs wasteful government spending. Let’s get to work.
