Hello Friends,

We have had a busy few months full of planning for the future of our caucus! We are thrilled to share this update with you to keep you up to date about what we have been working on...

First, we are excited to announce that Sierra Dameron from Marion County has been appointed Co-Chair of the Rules Committee in place of Kaitlyn who had to step down due to a personal complication. We want to say thank you to Kaitlyn for her service and the work she did for to the Young Democrats of Oregon. We are very happy to have Sierra join us. Sierra brings experience from working on Measure 101, as Congressman DeFazio's Field Director in the last election cycle and working for Senator Frederick in the legislature this past session.

Welcome, Sierra Dameron!

The Young Democrats will also have our next general meeting at the upcoming Democratic Party of Oregon State Central Committee meeting on August 11th at 11am at Newburg High School Room 5. We would love to see you there! Below are the minutes from our first two quarterly meetings (to be approved at our upcoming meeting) and the agenda for this quarters meeting. We hope to see you there!

Here are the Minutes from the 1st Quarter SCC YDO Meeting!

Here are the Minutes from the 2nd Quarter SCC YDO Meeting!

Here is the Agenda for the 3rd Quarter SCC YDO Meeting!

We will also be voting on who will be our next female Delegate to the Young Democrats of America Convention as well as whether we should charter with the National Young Democrats officially. The spot of National Committee delegate is required to attend the YDA Convention (which we will fundraise for as a caucus) and represent Oregon at that convention.

The most exciting news is that after much discussion with the Democratic Party of Oregon, they have given us the following terms in order to allow us to charter with the Young Democrats of America which will be voted on during the upcoming meeting...

"In order for the Young Democrats of Oregon Caucus of the Democratic Party of Oregon to Charter with the Young Democrats of America the following actions and requisites must be agreed to...

1. Any relevant or required chartering documents necessary for the Young Democrats of Oregon Caucus to complete and or sign must be first reviewed by the Democratic Party of Oregon Executive Director.

2. Any efforts involving voter registration, voter education, Get-Out-The-Vote or other direct Federal Election Activity by the Young Democrats of Oregon Caucus will not be co-branded or done in coordination with the Young Democrats of America.

3. The Young Democrats of Oregon Caucus will not accept from nor provide any contributions to the Young Democrats of America without prior approval from the Democratic Party of Oregon Executive Director so that potential contributions may be reviewed for compliance purposes."

Chartering with the Young Democrats of Oregon would allow our caucus to partner with this great group to further our organizing efforts here in Oregon as well as allow us to send our Delegates to their national convention and to have a vote on a DNC member! We would love to hear any feedback you have on these terms and whether or not we should charter with YDA on the feedback form and at the upcoming meeting on the 11th!

We are also very excited to announce that the Young Democrats have sent out our first fundraising mailer! Brian (Campaigns Chair), Carina (Fundraising Chair) and Emily (Chair) traveled up from Medford, Eugene and Salem to Portland to complete this mailer last week and we're really excited to have sent this letter out.
