Friend -- We wanted to send you an update on the situation unfolding in Virginia. Here's a quick rundown:

-- FIRST: Virginia was gerrymandered and progress was stalled on issues like common-sense gun violence prevention, Medicaid expansion, and election reform.
-- THEN: The courts determined the district lines were racially gerrymandered and forced the maps to be redrawn ahead of the 2019 election.
-- NOW: With a new legislature serving after Virginians voted under fair maps, elected officials can make real progress on meaningful redistricting reform -- a huge win for fair maps!

We finally have a chance to ensure fair maps for Virginia's state legislature and 11 congressional districts for a decade. But we need to activate grassroots volunteers in Virginia to show strong support for this reform.

This morning, Eric Holder applauded Virginia Delegate Marcia Price for putting forward a strong reform proposal that offers a viable path to an independent redistricting commission that would draw the maps in 2021. Her reform effort ensures transparency with the voters, protections for communities of interest, and a truly non-partisan process. It also ensures that members of one political party cannot unilaterally block the map-drawing process from moving forward to protect their own interests.

We need to show overwhelming support for this redistricting reform → Add your name to join AG Holder in supporting this path.

It's time to ensure fairness and end the practice of allowing politicians to gerrymander maps. We need to give the power back to the people, where it belongs.
