Friend,
Exactly two years ago, I resigned my post as a government official
to fight for our democracy.
Because two years ago yesterday, insurrectionists stormed the
Capitol building, trying to overthrow it.
They beat Capitol police officers with flagpoles and pipes. They
hunted for members of Congress. They flew the Confederate flag.
Marjorie Taylor Greene cheered them on.
I’ve served my country since I graduated from high school and
joined the Army. I’ve been in war zones and on battlefields.
But the fight for democracy doesn’t just happen abroad. It doesn’t
just happen in war zones.
It’s happening today, in every corner of America. In your backyard,
and in mine.
Two years ago I looked around at the damage being done to our
democracy and decided to go all-in to preserve it. Some people thought
I was crazy to quit my job to focus on fighting MGT.
Honestly, it’s one of the best decisions I’ve ever made.
It’s given me the opportunity to work with people like you who are
just as dedicated to our country and our democracy as I am.
The fact is – this mission isn’t over and our job’s not done. The
chaos in Washington this week proved yet again that MTG’s caucus would
rather tear the government down than make it work for you.
They won’t stop, so neither can we.
So stay tuned – I'll have more in the coming weeks about how we can
continue the fight together.
You know, when I resigned two years ago I would never have imagined
how many people would join our fight against MAGA and for our country.
I’m proud of what we’ve built, and grateful for your part in it.
Thank you for standing with me.
