The Biden Administration has announced an expansion to the Trump-era Title 42 policy — which include expulsions for migrants entering unauthorized from Nicaragua, Haiti, and Cuba.
Let us be clear: This is NOT border security, this is an asylum ban. This policy is a racist and classist attack on our communities.
We deserve more. Our communities cannot continue living under inhumane policies and restrictions.

President Biden’s announcement revives the Trump-era “transit ban,” barring asylum from those who have crossed a third country without applying for asylum there, and also increases deportations through the use of expedited removal.
This Trump policy has been dismantling the asylum system since it was put in place. By sustaining and expanding it, the Biden administration is making cruelty against migrants part of its legacy.
We came so close to securing the end of Title 42 last year until the Supreme Court stepped in at the 11th hour to uphold the policy indefinitely while they wait to hear arguments on the program.
Now, Biden’s announcement is taking us another step backward.
We’re leading the charge to protect all immigrants, which means putting pressure on the Biden administration to uphold the right to asylum and end this racist policy. But we need supporters like you to join our fight.
