Big news out of D.C., team:

After failing 14 consecutive times over 4 embarrassingly-long days to gather the votes necessary, Kevin McCarthy has been elected Speaker of the House.

This means the new Republican Congress can now begin to conduct normal business, call votes, staff committees — in short, get to work.

McCarthy has spent months attacking Ilhan, and has already renewed his promises to kick her off the Foreign Affairs Committee — attempting to silence her voice and reverse the incredible progress she's made for human rights around the world.

We don't know exactly how fast the GOP will act, but we need to be ready to fight back when they do.

Unlike McCarthy and his right-wing allies, Ilhan doesn't take a cent from corporate PACs or the billionaires who fund them. Our movement is funded by small-dollar, grassroots donations — and that's why we need to ask:
