Y’all… It's official. Last night, I was sworn into the United States Congress!!
As a working class, Afro-Latino member of Gen Z, I defied the odds to be elected to an institution that is designed to keep people like me from having a seat at the table.
Now, it’s safe to say that we made it. I’m ready to get to work to represent FL-10 and be a bold leader who will fight for transformational change. A leader who will fight for Orlando, for working families, and for my generation – whose future is at stake.
But no one expected me to be here, and I’m already facing attacks from GOP leaders and those who hate to see young, working, everyday people having a voice in Congress. If I’m going to make real progress in Congress and STAY there, I need our team firing on all cylinders – that means I need YOU with me, John.
I know balancing the duties of being a new Member of Congress and maintaining the power of our movement won’t be easy. I’m going to do my part in Washington, but powering our fight from where you are is how you can do YOUR part – for ALL of us in this movement. Can I count on you to stand with me by chipping in $27 now? >>
Now that I’m officially sworn in, I’m kickstarting the fight for:
- Equitable policies to finally address and fix our country’s broken housing system,
- Racial and economic justice for marginalized, working class folks who struggle to make ends meet and maneuver a system designed to hold them back,
- Bold legislation that will end of our country’s gun violence crisis,
- And protections for abortion rights and LGBTQ+ Americans facing relentless attacks from the far-right.
John, I’m going to hit the ground running because it’s become crystal clear that we can’t rely on the same old institutions to fix the same old problems.
Together, we’re going to fight for bold change, but if I’m going to keep fighting in Congress through the far-right’s continuous attacks, we need to show them that our movement is NOT to be messed with.
And that means proving that our grassroots army is only getting stronger by the day. But the only way we’ll prove that is if we still have dollars coming in the door.
That’s how we got here, and that’s how we’ll stay here, so I need you with me all the way.
So I’m asking: Can I count on you to chip in $27 to keep our movement as strong as possible? >>
It’s time to get to work,
Representative Maxwell Frost
