Get out the Vote and into the Housing:
I-135 Canvassing Launch TODAY!

There's only a few weeks to go until ballots drop for the February 14 special election. House Our Neighbors Initiative 135 will be the only measure on the ballot in Seattle, and will bring publicly owned, permanently affordable social housing to Seattle.

With historically low voter turnout in special elections, we need help! We'll be knocking doors all weekend, with a GOTV Launch on Saturday, January 7 at 11 am. Join us at locations in Lake City, Fremont, Beacon Hill, and Hillman City to help drive voter turnout! Learn more here! If you can't make the GOTV Launch, please join comrades in Lake City (10am) and Columbia City (2:30pm) at canvasses on Sunday, January 8!

If talking to voters seems intimidating, you can still help out! We're looking for apartment building leads to help us drive renter turnout. As a building lead, we can either provide materials to canvass your building yourself or provide volunteers to do it for you! We're also looking for graphic designers to help design flyers and social media posts for I-135.

Need a refresher on I-135?

  • Publicly owned forever and governed by renters, community members, labor, and subject matter professionals.
  • Mixture of income levels from very low to moderate income, with permanently affordable rents (less than 30% monthly income) independent of rental market.
  • Restorative conflict resolution prior to the start of any eviction procedures, and no evictions based on changes to household income.
  • Built Union, Built Green to Passive House standards.
  • Should use a lottery-based, minimal barrier, no-fee or background check application process which doesn’t discriminate based on immigration status.
  • Should include daycares, communal kitchens and/or other community resources

If that gets you hyped, help make it happen!
