Hi,
Republicans are hell-bent on cutting Social Security and Medicare —
programs they call "fat and garbage” and "wasting money."^1,2
House Republicans are even threatening to shut down the government or
force the U.S. government into default by refusing to raise the debt
ceiling in order to get those cuts.^3 And it should be clear to everyone
at this point that they are crazy enough to do it.
Defending Social Security and Medicare against the radical MAGA
Republicans now in charge of the House of Representatives will require a
massive grassroots effort, and we're counting on grassroots supporters
like you to chip in whatever you can.

Millions of Americans depend on Social Security to survive. It is one of
the most successful government programs in history, and without it,
millions of American seniors would fall into abject poverty. It would be
especially cruel to cut seniors' benefits now, given the rise in
inflation.
But Republicans have opposed Social Security literally since it was
created. Ronald Reagan wanted to make it voluntary.^4 George W. Bush tried
to privatize it.^5 Now House Republicans are threatening to force deep
cuts by blocking must-pass legislation to raise the debt ceiling.
With the House of Representatives held hostage by MAGA Republican
insurrectionists, Social Security is in greater danger than ever before.
But we need your help.
