Victory in New Jersey!
Monday, as thousands cheered, the New Jersey legislature ended their session without taking a vote on the bill that would repeal religious exemptions to vaccinations in New Jersey. Monday’s conclusion came after a week of intense protesting and bill negotiations behind the scenes that culminated in some of the best advocacy for children’s rights ever witnessed. A New York Times article regarding the events said, “The intensity of the prolonged protest was unlike anything in Trenton in over a decade, many longtime lawmakers and lobbyists said.”
Children’s Health Defense was with the advocates every step of the way from encouraging attendance through the “Occupy Trenton” video, to attendance and speech by Chairman, Robert F. Kennedy, Jr., to social media updates including FB live (victory pronounced at the 7 minute mark) and more.
It was a privilege for CHD to stand alongside so many dedicated advocates for children's and medical freedom rights. Fighting for children’s rights is never wrong. Great job, NJ! But there is no time to sit back and relax. The 2020 version was reintroduced today for consideration by the Assembly. We must continue to educate New Jersey lawmakers—and lawmakers everywhere—about the critical need for Americans to maintain their rights.
