# [#]Happy New Year! I hope you had a restful and enjoyable holiday. While December may have slowed down for some, my team’s work never stops. We had a busy and exciting December, and I want to share a few highlights with you:

* The opioid crisis has affected every corner of our state. I’ve sued multiple corporations for their role in the epidemic. In December, I announced five additional resolutions in these cases, bringing the total recoveries to more than $1.1 billion. These resources must be used to address the opioid epidemic in our state. We will continue to hold those responsible for the opioid crisis accountable.
* I filed a consumer protection lawsuit against Allure Esthetic, a Seattle-based plastic surgery clinic, for threatening patients to falsely inflate its online ratings. Prospective patients rely on these reviews to determine if a provider is right for them, and using threats to manipulate reviews isn’t just wrong — it’s illegal. Check out more information here. * Next week, the state legislative session begins. As Attorney General, I am able to propose what’s called “AG Request Legislation.” In December I announced two proposals. First, I am proposing a bill that will strengthen state laws to prevent robocalls and hold telecommunications providers accountable. I’m proud to work with Rep. Mari Leavitt on this legislation. It is part of the anti-robocalling initiative that I launched last year to combat fraudulent, harassing, and illegal robocalls. Check out more information here. ([link removed])
* Second, I am proposing two bills to address gun violence. The first is a renewed call to ban the sale of military-style assault weapons. The second is a new proposal, requiring gun manufacturers and retailers to take reasonable steps to prevent their products from getting into the hands of dangerous individuals.

Bob
