KICKING OFF THE NEW YEAR WITH IMPACT

Hi John,

Happy New Year! Wishing you and your loved ones a wild and wonderful 2023.

The New Year may have just begun but, thanks to YOUR support, Born Free has hit the ground running. From the ultimate accolade for our beloved Co-Founder Virginia McKenna, to long-legged twin giraffes in Kenya, we already have much to celebrate, and we're hitting the ground running with lots of exciting news to start the year!

CONGRATULATIONS VIRGINIA!

We’re overjoyed. Our very own wildlife champion and queen of compassion, Virginia McKenna, has been awarded a damehood in the 2023 New Year Honours, for her work in Wild Animal Welfare and Compassionate Conservation.

THANKS FOR LOVING
LIONS ❤️🦁

Your gifts to our Saving Lions Together appeal are adding up. To our pride, you’ve already raised some £50,000 for lion care and conservation. But, there’s still time to help us reach our goal of £70,000!

TALKING OF LIONS...

Five new cubs have been spotted in  Meru, Kenya. All your support of our Year of the Lion has truly paid off. And how fitting, they’re part of the Virginia Pride – named in honour of our own lioness!

MORE RARE BABIES!

With just 16,000 remaining, each reticulated giraffe counts. So, imagine our joy when our Kenya team reported rare new twins in Meru, where your adoptions help to look after them.

PANGO-POLL RESULTS

Hundreds of you voted to name our orphan pangopup before Christmas, with Nguindolo (‘forest spirit’) the resounding 51% winner. Adopters provide his 24/7 care in Central Africa Republic.
