John, today marks two years since the attack on the Capitol.

Two years since the Republican party spent but a few hours condemning the actions of Trump supporters, to then immediately turn against the facts, peddle conspiracy theories, and even excuse the actions of the former President and the rioters.

One of the main actors in this has been Kevin McCarthy, who has repeatedly shown himself to be a supporter of Trump regardless of the damage it has inflicted on the country.

According to a Hill story published last year, as more conversations on January 6^th were divulged, McCarthy expressed concerns that the rioters had come to “kill” him.

McCarthy initially gave a speech on the floor following January 6^th signaling he believed Trump had responsibility on that day, but later distanced himself from those comments and then disregarded them altogether.

Kevin McCarthy has spoken out against the January 6^th Select Committee, often referring to his perceived notion of republican censorship on the Committee, however, three of the five picks McCarthy selected were accepted by Speaker Pelosi. He also rejected a proposal for a bipartisan commission on the matter, cementing his disdain for the process.

He also pledged, with his role as speaker, to give Marjorie Taylor Greene her assignments back as part of a deal to have more MAGA Republicans on his side for his bid. However, as of the writing of this report, several members of those identifying as MAGA have continually nominated others on the floor and voted against McCarthy.

Kevin McCarthy’s aspirations for Speaker exist in a selfish and desperate attempt to retain power which was highlighted Wednesday by Trump’s post on Truth Social to call on Republicans to vote for McCarthy.

Kevin McCarthy has always put his desire for power over the American people.

And now, as his power is threatened, he stands by the same actions and beliefs of the MAGA Republicans, while they in turn vote him down.

Kevin McCarthy made this bed, and now he is writhing in it. 

Help us to ensure that another January 6th attempted coup doesn't happen again. Let's hold them responsible and remove them from power.
