Dear Friend,
Happy New Year! I hope you were able to spend time with friends and family over the holidays.
Serving Iowans in Congress is the greatest honor of my life, and I'm excited the new Second Congressional District includes Butler, Cerro Gordo, Chickasaw, Floyd, Grundy, and Hardin Counties.
I've traveled across Northeast Iowa and heard directly from Iowa families, farmers, veterans, and small business owners. The concerns Iowans talk about around their kitchen tables every night are my priorities in Washington. Here is what I promise to work on for you this Congress:
Restoring fiscal responsibility: It's past time that Washington starts budgeting like Iowa families and small businesses do. I'll continue to reject wasteful spending and advocate for commonsense economic policies that respect taxpayers.
Unleashing American energy: President Biden's energy policies have been a disaster. We need to maximize domestic energy production and expand the use of Iowa biofuels to lower costs across our supply chain, bolster our national security, and restore American energy independence.
Securing the border: There were over 233,000 illegal immigrant encounters at our Southern Border in November -- nearly three times the size of the City of Dubuque. I will continue pushing for policies that secure our border to keep our communities safe.
Amid the dysfunction we've seen in Washington, I’m looking ahead at the opportunities we have to finally hold the Biden Administration accountable and put our country back on the path to prosperity.
Let's get to work!
