Screen time is bad for kids. This is a commonly accepted sentiment. But here’s
the thing: the studies around this topic aren’t so certain. The bigger problem
with plopping your kid in front of a screen is that time when they’re staring
mindlessly at a YouTube video, they’re not getting face time with another human.
We know that many of the ills associated with screen time, like poor cognitive
development and language skills, can also be linked to the quality of a parent’s
interaction with a child.
In other words, so long as you spend plenty of screen-free time with your child,
you probably don’t have to panic about them going over their screen time limits.
