John,
Today marks two years since a violent mob — at the direction of Donald Trump — attacked the Capitol on January 6, 2021. The plan? To get Republicans in key states to overturn the presidential election results.
Election deniers may have failed that day, John, but our democracy is still at risk.
As we saw in 2022, Trump loyalists are running for office at every level of government, including in state houses. And across the country, right-wing Republicans are passing waves of voter suppression and election subversion bills with the aim of rigging the system, silencing communities of color, and engineering election outcomes.
On top of that, an arch-conservative Supreme Court has taken up a case that could give state legislatures complete control over federal elections.
The battle for the future of our democracy is happening at the state level, and building permanent progressive power in state legislatures is more important than ever.
That’s where we come in. Here at Sister District, we’re fighting back by sounding the alarm, supporting local year-round community organizing, and electing state legislators in swing states who will fight to protect our democracy — no matter what.
John, we know you’re a supporter of Sister District, and we’re grateful you’re in this fight with us. If you’re able, will make an investment today, so we can keep up this urgent work?
