The Latest on Title 42

We are so grateful to be able to continue with Title 42 exemptions, helping present asylum seekers at the border with the assistance and coordination of Psicologos Sin Fronteras and our supported shelter network.

While we await to see what will happen after Title 42 comes to an end, we continue to assist those who have long been awaiting a chance to present their asylum cases.

Due to flight delays from winter storms, migrant shelters haven’t been able to move guests through as quickly as normal and are now at capacity, meaning many new arrivals have been left on the streets.

Federal officials left dozens of migrants scattered at bus stations across San Diego County on Friday as winter storms blocked travel nationally and the region’s migrant shelters filled to capacity.

From El Cajon to Oceanside, migrants found themselves suddenly on the streets, some without phones and in some cases without the family members they’d traveled with. Those who spoke with the Union-Tribune had crossed into the U.S. at various parts of the California border. It was not clear if any had been bused to San Diego for processing by Border Patrol after crossing farther east in Yuma, Ariz., which has become a hotspot for apprehensions.

Colorado plans to send more migrants to New York
NEW YORK — Colorado Gov. Jared Polis plans to send migrants to major cities including New York, Mayor Eric Adams said Tuesday, warning that the nation’s largest city is already struggling to deal an influx of people sent from Texas and other Republican-led states.

However, the Democratic governor told POLITICO shortly afterward that the state has been helping asylum seekers reach their final destinations — including New York City — for weeks. The only change has been a recent winter storm and ensuing travel catastrophe that created a backlog of migrants wanting to leave Denver, which is now being cleared.
