LIVE Prayer on ESPN is a Witness to a Hurting World

By: Jim Daly

Buffalo Bills safety Damar Hamlin remains in critical condition following his shocking collapse after an on-field cardiac arrest this past Monday night.

Dorrian Glenn, Hamlin’s uncle, told ESPN on Tuesday night that while Hamlin is sedated, he’s “improving from where he was yesterday. We are just going to continue to pray, and I know he is in great hands with the medical team he has here. They have been doing a tremendous job.”

Many of us have been praying for this young man, whose on-field talents are dwarfed by his reputation for his off-field generosity and deep Christian faith.

“My faith is in God,” he once said. “So whatever He has planned for me, that’ll be it.”

Federal Government Makes Abortion Pill Widely Available, Okays Mail Orders Despite Law Prohibiting Them

By: Bruce Hausknecht

The federal government is taking actions in the wake of the U.S. Supreme Court’s decision last June in Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization to make chemical abortions more widely available, even in pro-life states that have taken steps to limit or prohibit abortion.

Recent actions by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) as well as the U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ) will expand the availability of the abortion drugs mifepristone and misoprostol and ensure that companies sending the drugs through the mail will not be blocked by an 1873 law making it illegal for the U.S. Postal Service to deliver anything “calculated to lead another to use or apply it for producing abortion.”

Previously, the FDA only allowed abortion pills to be dispensed by clinics, medical offices, and hospitals under the direct supervision of a licensed physician. On January 3, 2023, the FDA modified what it calls its “Mifepristone REMS Program” to expand the availability of mifepristone to retail pharmacies like CVS and Walgreens.

Mifepristone is the first in a two-pill chemical abortion regimen. Mifepristone blocks a hormone necessary for pregnancy development and is authorized by the FDA to be taken in the first 10 weeks of pregnancy.

The second drug in the chemical abortion regimen is misoprostol, which is taken 24 to 48 hours after mifepristone. It causes contractions that expel the baby from the womb.

Kirk Cameron’s ‘Story Hour’ Reading Draws Record Breaking Turnout at Indianapolis Library, Publisher Says

By: Zachary Mettler

After finally finding a library that was willing to host his “story hour” event, Kirk Cameron’s public reading of his new book As You Grow drew a record-breaking crowd in Indianapolis, according to Cameron’s book publisher Brave Books.

Over 2,500 people showed up to hear Cameron read his book, Brave Books said. Cameron’s book is based on the fruits of the spirit, found in Galatians 5:22-23.

“In 137 years of the Indianapolis Public Library’s history, NEVER ONCE have they had over 2,500 people show up to a single event. UNTIL TODAY” Brave Books tweeted (emphasis in original).

But the Indianapolis Public Library is now disputing the attendance figures. The library system said that their estimated door count for the event was 750, not 2,500.

However, according to Cameron’s spokesperson, “the library announced that the building hit capacity during the first book reading,” the Post Millennial reports. The spokesperson had also said that they had planned to do multiple readings to accommodate all the attendees.

One woman posted a video on Facebook showing a very long line of people waiting to hear Cameron’s reading. “Shame on the Indianapolis Public Library for their treatment of Kirk Cameron and THOUSANDS of supporters,” she wrote.

Christians Can Redeem and Reclaim the Date of January 6th

By: Paul Batura

For the last two years, no one date on the calendar has been mentioned in news reports more than “January 6th” — the day back in 2021 when rioters breached the United States Capitol to protest the 2020 presidential election. Images of the chaos and the mob that attempted to disrupt and derail the Electoral College proceedings are replayed over and over by media, as well as by an officially sanctioned congressional committee tasked with investigating the maelstrom.

You can be sure we’ll see lots of footage this coming Friday on the second anniversary of the event. Last year, Dr. Al Mohler, president of Southern Seminary, called the day “a wake-up call for the nation” and “a sobering reminder of the massive challenges facing our constitutional order.” He added, “We will find a way to preserve our grand experiment in self-government, or we will lose it.”

Dr. Mohler knows that January 6th is far more than a day relegated to remembering disorder and dysfunction. In fact, for well over 1,600 years, it’s been a day set aside to commemorate the arrival of the Magi to see Jesus, as well as the celebration of His baptism and the beginning of Christ’s earthly ministry. It’s time for Christians to reclaim and redeem the day from headlines of malfeasance to the manifestation of Jesus’ divinity.

The Christian Feast of the Epiphany follows the Twelve Days of Christmas, the term emanating from a Greek word meaning “manifestation,” is a holiday dating back to between 380 and 420 A.D.

Judge Rules Against Challenge to Colorado Therapy Ban for ‘LGBT Minors’

By: Jeff Johnston

A U.S. District Court judge denied a motion by a licensed counselor asking for a preliminary injunction against a Colorado law banning any help for minors struggling with homosexuality or transgenderism. The law only allows therapists to help children move toward embracing a homosexual or transgender identity.

If a five-year-old girl struggles with sexual identity confusion, her parents could not work with a licensed counselor to help her embrace her female body and feminine identity.

Likewise, if a 16-year-old boy wrestles with an addiction to homosexual pornography, he could not receive professional therapy to help embrace his God-given identity and move toward biblical sexual integrity.

Kaley Chiles, a licensed professional counselor, challenged the law, saying it violated her First Amendment rights. But Judge Charlotte N. Sweeney, who identifies as a lesbian, issued a decision denying Chiles’ request.

Sweeney said that “children who identify as lesbian, gay, bisexual, cisgender, transgender, or gender non-conforming” are “entitled to a state’s protection from therapeutic modalities that have been shown to cause longstanding psychological and physical damage.” This is a false statement, as there are no long-term studies of minors who receive professional help for same-sex attractions or sexual identity confusion. But there are many studies that show adults dealing with these issues have been helped by professional therapy — even if their feelings don’t change.
