Folks,
Two years ago today, I was in the United States Capitol when violent rioters — gathered by Trump, fueled by lies, and egged on by National Republicans — assaulted the heart of our democracy.
They attacked law enforcement, threatened our lives, and nearly ended the peaceful transfer of power. They claimed to be patriotic Americans, but the flags they bore were those of Trump and Nazi symbols. Their only allegiance was to Trump and his lies.
It was a terrifying day, but here’s what I find even more sickening: After all of it, National Republicans still, to this day, refuse to stand up to the man who caused it all.
Donald Trump is still their leading presidential candidate. And Senate Republicans, who saw the wreckage with me in the Capitol that day, still provide cover for his lies about stolen elections.
Two years later, our democracy’s still under attack.
If you believe, like me, that our democracy is in danger, please add your name to commit to defending it every day — at home, in your community, and at the ballot box in every election.
When you add your name alongside mine, you are saying you will speak up, stand up, and take action whenever you see injustice.
You are saying you’ll vote in every election, big or small, for candidates who fight for truth and defend the right to vote.
You are saying you’ll keep fighting for a democracy that represents all Americans and an economy that works for everyone, not just those at the very top.
You are saying you believe our best days still lie ahead.
Fellow citizens, our democratic example has always shined brightest when we stood for both freedom and opportunity; one idea cannot meaningfully exist without the other.
I will never stop fighting to leave our democracy stronger for generations to come. It is the work of our lifetimes.
Please add your name if you’re with me.
Yours in the fight,
Michael
