Friends -

Today marks two years since far-right extremists attacked the US Capitol with the goal of stopping Congress from certifying the results of a fair and free presidential election. There were countless heroes on that day. Like the Capitol and DC Metro Police, and the representatives in the Capitol who remained committed to their constitutional duty to certify the results of the election.

Today, we remember their bravery and honor their dedication to the values our country was founded on.

Let us use this day as a reminder that our democracy is not a given. It’s fragile. It takes each and every American who believes in the will of the people to do their part to protect it.

We have seen what can happen when representatives put misinformation over democracy. I’m committed to working in Congress on behalf of North Carolinians, and Americans across the country, to protect the right to vote and the integrity of our elections. I will fight for the right for every voice to be heard, and for the results of our elections to be upheld, no matter the outcome. Because that is the pillar on which our country was built, and that’s how our democracy prevails.

Thank you,
