In Mendota Heights, the a City budget reflects the City Council priorities to:
Enhance City services
Create a vision for development and redevelopment
Conserve, protect and enhance natural resources
Maintain and improve infrastructure
Encourage and support park improvement opportunities
Planning for the City?s annual budget involves reviewing operational needs, community desires and available resources.?The preliminary tax levy was reflected on property tax notices mailed to all Mendota Heights property owners. The Council held a public hearing before their final vote to approve the levy on Dec. 6.
Some notable public-facing projects budgeted for 2023 include a new warming house at Wentworth Park and renovations to the Rogers Lake Skate Park, as well as investments in shade tree plantings on public property, expanded native plantings and increased maintenance for existing city trees.
This week, 15 inches of snow fell in Mendota Heights over a two-day snow event. In addition to the four city snow plows that we usually have out clearing streets after a snow event, staff also used a front loader to try and keep up. The snow was heavy, hard to push, and warm temperatures also brought freezing rain and ice.
Mendota Heights snow plow drivers were out for the whole thing, working hard to keep up with weather, clearing streets and walking paths to help folks be able to get where they needed to safely. We are so thankful for our skilled public works staff!

Proper Disposal of Holiday Greenery Prevents Spread of Pests
Insects and tree diseases can be spread through the sale and distribution of trees and holiday greenery if these items brought into Minnesota from other areas.
Pests and diseases can live on decorations such as wreaths, swags, garland and other greenery, and will spread if not disposed of properly.
Holiday greenery should be burned, or disposed of through an organized tree pick-up or collection.
