John,

Two years ago today, America witnessed one of the darkest days in our history as MAGA extremists attempted to overturn the result of a free and fair election and reinstate a dictator.

But, because of the brave men and women of the Capitol and DC Metro Police and additional law enforcement, in the dark, early morning hours of January 7th, Lady Freedom watched over us as we proudly carried out the business of Congress and certified the 2020 Election.

The assault on our democracy didn’t end on January 6th. We watched ultra-right Trump supporters wage war on our sacred right to vote during the 2022 mid-terms. And we’re watching it play out again on the floor of the House of Representatives as Republicans hold Congress hostage by their utter inability to unite around a candidate for Speaker. Democrats, on the other hand, remain united behind Leader Jeffries. And we will no matter how many times that Kevin McCarthy selfishly holds out his personal, life-long fairy tale dream of becoming Speaker.

Your voice matters. Your vote matters. I will always stand on the side of liberty, of democracy, and abide by the Constitution of the United States of America.
