​ January 6th, 2021 was one of the darkest days in our nation’s history. Two years later, it’s still difficult to process the attack on our Capitol and on our democracy itself.

Now we’re facing another attack on our democracy, with GOP infighting leading to a failure to choose a Speaker of the House. This means we can’t officially start the business of the 118th Congress or even be sworn into office.

I have to speak up on this, because it’s directly impacting my ability to get things done for the people of Kansas, like moving forward with the bipartisan Farm Bill.

The insurrection two years ago was an abhorrent event, but the threat of extremism still exists throughout our country, including right here in Congress.

It’s on all of us to stand unwavering in our demands to protect American democracy from present and future threats.
