What our nation has seen over the past few days trying to elect a house speaker has caused a lot of folks to gripe and complain. But as I see it, this is about democracy. Choosing the best candidate for the third most powerful leadership position in the U.S. takes deep consideration and exchange. And that's exactly what Republicans have done on the House floor this week. The decisions we make as a Republican majority matter, and it is a point of pride we can have this level of debate, unlike the last four years under Nancy Pelosi's reign of terror. So while I look forward to reaching a conclusion that results in swearing in a Republican Congress and Speaker of the House, I want to take a moment to recognize just how lucky we are to have a Republican majority, and all the work we’ll be able to get done. |
