The corruption, the souls for sale, the unadulterated lust for power and wealth at the expense of the American people. We are seeing it in real time now, and it disgusts me.
In 2020, the lines were redrawn by the courts. I provided the first real challenge to longtime Dem incumbent GK Butterfield. I lost under suspicious circumstances but got 46% and scared the heck out of him.
In 2022, the courts redrew the lines again- slightly more Republican district but still slightly Dem leaning. GK retired rather than face me again, but chose a handpicked successor. The Swamp spent $10 million against me (!) to install the Democrat successor.
He barely won in one of the closest races in the country with the help of all that Swamp money. I think I made them spend it all!
Now with his sycophant installed, Butterfield is doing what he always wanted to do- cash in.
The Epoch Times has the story:
Rep. G.K. Butterfield (D-N.C.) resigned from Congress on Friday, days before the end of his term, ahead of starting a new lobbying position on Saturday.
Butterfield, who did not run for reelection, told WRAL that he will be starting at a Washington law firm where he plans to do lobbying and policy work. He is barred from lobbying Congress itself for one year but can lobby the executive branch.
“It’s another phase of my professional life, so I’m looking forward to it,” he said, according to WRAL. “It will be a slower pace.”
The former chair of the Congressional Black Caucus was first elected to the northwestern North Carolina district in 2004. His term would have automatically ended at noon on Tuesday had he not resigned on Friday.

When he announced his decision not to seek reelection in 2021, Butterfield criticized North Carolina congressional maps that made his Democratic-leaning district much more competitive.
For GK, serving in Congress was just another way to make a buck. I'm so glad I chased that fool from Congress.
But his successor is no better. The Swamp loves this type of corruption, but it's choking the Republic.
Passing the torch from one career politician to the next is not serving the people of #NC01.... And it’s sick to think he’s going to continue to make himself rich on the backs of American taxpayers.
