John,
As the race heats up, I’ll be going to more and more club and community meetings to speak about my candidacy. These organizations often have members that are dedicated to Rep. Nadler — and vocally opposed to me — but that’s not going to stop me from showing up and speaking about the things that matter to me and many voters across the district.

Just last week, I spoke to Three Parks Independent Democrats, which is a progressive Democratic club representing the Upper West Side of Manhattan. After I shared my vision for NY-10, I was asked a question that comes up time and again:
“How would the people of this district benefit from a Freshman Congressmember over a Congressmember with the seniority of Rep. Nadler?”
I brought up the Gateway Program, an almost decade-old project that is a victim of failed leadership at the expense of New York’s commuters. The Gateway is a comprehensive rail investment program proposed in 2011, and made even more necessary after infrastructure damage caused by Hurricane Sandy in 2012.
What good was Rep. Nadler’s ‘seniority’ on the Transportation and Infrastructure Committee if we still don’t have funding for one of the country’s most critical infrastructure projects?

As I said to Three Parks, you get seniority positions in Congress by doing what you’re told. Politicians care more about keeping their jobs than doing their jobs.
Hear it from me in this video. [[link removed]]
‘Politics as usual’ doesn’t work for us anymore. The Gateway Program is a perfect example of how political posturing has stalled the most urgent infrastructure project in America. It would expand and relieve the most heavily used passenger rail line in the country, and its funding must be prioritized.
Yesterday, Rep. Nadler tweeted about how he has fought to get funding for this ‘vital project.’ I’d like to think my message to Three Parks jogged his memory about the importance of the Gateway Program. But talking about the past isn’t enough, and it won’t get us the funding required.
It’s time to rethink what power in politics looks like and how it is really serving our needs. I hope you’ll continue to support my campaign so that we can put the people of our district first.
All my best,
Lindsey
