Dear Friend,

Later this month, I will deliver my State of the State address to lay out our plans to tackle the challenges Michiganders are facing right now. Together, we can lower costs, make Michigan more competitive,?protect people?s fundamental rights, and make record investments in our kids and communities. These plans represent the future and will move Michigan forward.?

In order to make this event complete, I need you ? the young, creative people of Michigan ? to come up with a creative design for the program cover following the theme ?What makes Michigan strong???

Students are encouraged to be as creative as possible and are welcome to use crayon, marker, paint or any other material. To submit your design, please visit michigan.gov/artcontest [ [link removed] ] and follow the instructions on the webpage. Submissions will be accepted exclusively through the online system and must be received no later than 11:59PM on Sunday, January 15.?

I am excited to highlight the talents of Michigan?s young people as part of the 2023 State of the State program. I believe what makes Michigan strong is the people that live here, and I am delighted to share a student?s artwork that highlights what they see as Michigan?s strengths. I hope students from across the state display their skills and submit their designs for the State of the State Art Contest [ [link removed] ].?

I am more confident than ever that our future is bright because of the people who call this great state home. Michiganders are tough and never shy away from hard work. We are competitive. Our message is simple: If you have big dreams and want to get things done, your future is in Michigan. I am so excited to get to work.
