It's Human Trafficking Awareness month! 

Since 2010, presidential decree has dedicated the month of January to educating the public about the crime of human trafficking (including sex trafficking) and how to prevent it. 

But do people really know the key to ending sex trafficking? 

To stop sex trafficking, we need to address the root cause: the sex buyer. Sex buyers create the demand that motivates the existence of the sexual exploitation industry. Without people choosing to buy other people for sex, there would be no prostitution and no sex trafficking. No Buyers = No Business.

Yet despite this, sex buyers are often left unchecked as they inflict incalculable harm on individuals and society.

Research around the world shows that targeting sex buyers to decrease the demand for sexual exploitation is both possible and effective. Demand-reduction tactics have been proven to work – we just need to raise awareness and advocate for the implementation of these tactics.
