Picture this: towering spruce trees wrapped in moss. Mighty glaciers and snow-capped mountain peaks. Sparkling rivers. Often called the “Amazon of the North,” the Tongass National Forest holds breathtaking views. But this beautiful place is UNDER ATTACK by Big Polluters. Take action now!
The Tlingit, Haida, and Tsimshian people have called these lands home for over 10,000 years. They hunt, gather, and fish in the forest to support their way of life. Thousands of species live here, too. Moose and brown bears trot through the trees. Bald eagles soar overhead. And you can find seals and otters in the forest’s sprawling waterways.
Trump repealed a key rule protecting the forest from destruction. As a result, Tongass is open to being SLASHED and PAVED OVER, as Big Polluters LOG and DRILL AWAY! But there’s good news: President Biden might reinstate protections and you can help ensure it happens. Friend, will you urge President Biden to protect Tongass National Forest from greedy polluters by 11:59pm TONIGHT?! >>
Carbon stored in forests like the Tongass is one of natures’ most powerful ways to combat climate change. Slashing old-growth trees in Tongass would release carbon emissions equivalent to adding 4 MILLION new cars on the road and driving them for the next 100 years, according to one study.
The Tlingit, Haida, and Tsimshian people have been the driving force to protect Tongass and everyone who relies on its resources. They’re so close to getting protections for Tongass -- you can help make the final push! If just 1 of every 12 people reading this email takes action, we can help SAVE this rainforest and the living things that depend on it. Add your name by 11:59pm TONIGHT!
