Team: The 118th Congress has just begun — a new House Speaker hasn’t been selected and the rest of the House hasn’t even been sworn in yet — and political gridlock is already getting in the way of progress.

With 6 rounds of voting and counting, extremist officials have made it clear that they will play games with procedure, pushing progress to the wayside if it means they get what they want.

And one thing is for certain — if these politicians are okay with playing games on day one in Congress, you can bet they will continue when real issues are up for debate — issues that affect the livelihood of hardworking Americans like all of us.

We’ll get straight to the point: Congress is out of touch with the needs of working people in America. They’re more interested in playing political games than working on the issues that keep everyday Americans up at night. We need change and we need it fast. While Congress is stuck in gridlock, will you sign our petition to let us know you agree that ballot measures like ours are the key to cutting through gridlock in Congress? [[link removed]]

It’s often said that the congressional leadership votes are the first votes because they’re the easiest ones. Well, they can’t even get that done.

When Congress can’t pass the policies the American people need, we’ve run ballot measure campaigns to bring workers higher wages and paid leave, stop the predatory practice of payday lending, expand health care access, protect abortion, and so much more.

What’s happening here and now in Washington just underscores that extremists in Congress think the life-changing policies hardworking Americans need can wait while they put on a show and play political games.

We’re done waiting. Direct democracy has empowered us to pass life-changing policies for more than 18 million Americans while Congress can’t or simply won’t. While extremists in the 118th Congress continue to play political games, will you add your name to let us know you agree that ballot measures like ours are the key to cutting through Congressional gridlock?
