We started this grassroots movement in an effort to protect our democracy, plain and simple. We knew Donald Trump was dangerous long before he refused to concede power. When he incited the insurrection on our Capitol – and our very democracy itself – we learned just how imperative it was to keep him far away from government and ensure he paid the price for his crimes.
That's why we've been so supportive of the bipartisan Jan. 6 Committee from the start. We admire the unanimous decision of the committee to send criminal referrals against Donald Trump to the Justice Department. The committee was crystal clear: The twice-impeached corrupt former president was a central cause to the insurrection on our Capitol.
While we respect the findings of the committee, we are eager to hear the thoughts of this grassroots movement – your thoughts, John, on Jan. 6 and the committee's work. What pro-democracy movements like ours do following the committee's conclusions is crucial to stopping Trump and his allies, which is why we want to hear what YOU think. The months ahead will be challenging. We have an extremist GOP majority in the House that doesn't even have the numbers or wherewithal to govern – filled with pro-Trump members intent on further harm to our democracy. Trump himself (and others just as bad) are mounting bids for the White House.
