The Paramedic Association of Canada has developed an awards program to recognize exceptional Canadian paramedics and paramedic supporters at the national level. These awards presentation will be held during the Paramedics on the Hill event, planned to be held in the Spring of 2023.
Please consider nominating exceptional paramedics and paramedic allies by completing a nomination package and submit it via email to [email protected]. Nominations will be accepted until Jan. 31, 2023.

4 dead in B.C. bus crash that sent dozens to hospital, RCMP say

Four people have died and dozens more were injured in a serious bus crash on a highway in B.C.'s Southern Interior on Christmas Eve.
Kelowna RCMP confirmed the fatalities in a statement recently, saying officers were called to Highway 97C east of Merritt near the Loon Lake exit around 6:00 p.m.

Man charged in Halifax paramedic attack to remain in jail

A Halifax man accused of attacking a paramedic has agreed to remain in custody until at least Jan. 9 while he applies to Nova Scotia Legal Aid for a full-service lawyer.
Trevor James Lunn, 46, was arrested Dec. 12, the day after a man assaulted a paramedic who was treating a patient for an unrelated matter at an address in the 5500 block of Cogswell Street in Halifax.

Offloading patients who don't need medical support from ambulances to other transportation options could free up an estimated 15 per cent of resources, roughly 70 paramedics provincewide, based on a recent pilot program, says Dr. John Cowell, who was appointed as the official administrator of AHS after the governing board was fired a month ago.

MPP presents $6 million cheque for Bruce County paramedic services

In the final days of 2022, MPP Lisa Thompson made the rounds of the communities in her riding, providing greetings and funding for a number of programs.
Thompson visited the Bruce County administration centre in Walkerton to present a cheque to Bruce County as part of a Land Ambulance Service Grant to help municipalities facing increased cost pressures in their emergency departments.
