Federal Appeals Court Upholds Florida’s Transgender Bathroom Ban. Now What? <[link removed]> -Transgender male student Drew Adams (a biological female) challenged the policy in 2020, claiming that it violated the Constitution’s Equal
Protection Clause <[link removed]>, which provides that no state may “deny to any person within its jurisdiction the equal protection of the laws.” Adams also argued that the policy violated Title
IX <[link removed]> of the Education Amendments of 1972, the federal law which prohibits discrimination on the basis of sex in any educational program that receives federal funding. Heritage Expert: Sarah Parshall Perry <[link removed]>

New House GOP majority says DHS Secretary Mayorkas ‘better be ready’ for hearings <[link removed]> - Dozens of House Republicans, including Fallon of Texas, co-sponsored legislation to impeach Mayorkas in the previous Congress, largely owing to his handling of the border crisis. Fallon's impeachment resolution, which includes three articles, cites similar reasons. "Since day one, Secretary Mayorkas’s policies have undermined law enforcement activities at our southern border," Fallon said in a statement to Fox News. " From perjuring himself before Congress about maintaining operational control of the border to the infamous ‘whip-gate’ slander against our border patrol agents, Secretary Mayorkas has proven time and time again that he is unfit to lead the Department of Homeland Security." <[link removed]> Heritage Expert: Simon Hankinson <[link removed]>

Food prices soared in 2022, Americans hope for improvement in 2023 <[link removed]> -
American families are bearing the cost of profligate spending by liberals in Congress and the Biden administration, especially when it comes to food prices. While overall prices have risen 14 percent under Biden, the cost of food has risen even faster, shooting up 17 percent in that same time. In just the last year alone, food prices are up 11 percent. Things are even worse for working families with relatively low incomes because they rely more on staples like eggs and flour, which have risen much faster than overall food prices. Repeat of 2020? Left-Wing Tech Group Doles Out Millions in Grants in Eerily Familiar Election Scheme <[link removed]> - A letter from the Alliance for Election Excellence to election officials in each of the 10 jurisdictions, dated Dec. 1, says: “I am pleased to inform you that based on and in reliance upon the information and materials provided [that] the Center for Tech and Civic Life (‘CTCL’), a nonprofit organization tax-exempt under Internal Revenue Code (‘IRC’) section 501(c)(3), has decided to award a grant to support the work of Town of Greenwich (‘Grantee’).” The letter
says the amount of the alliance’s grant is $500,000, with the first $150,000 to be paid in December 2022 and another $350,000 to be paid in December 2023. That would place the bulk of the funding just ahead of the 2024 presidential election.  Heritage Expert: Fred Lucas <[link removed]>
Biden, FDA Move to Turn Local Pharmacies into Abortion Clinics <[link removed]> - The FDA has a safety program called a Risk Evaluation and Mitigation Strategy (REMS) for certain drugs to ensure that the benefits outweigh the risks. Mifepristone has needed such a strategy since its original approval in 2000. These specifics have weakened <[link removed]> over the years, but one constant was a requirement that mifepristone be dispensed in person by a qualified prescriber in certain health care settings, such as a clinic or hospital. That means abortion pills weren’t treated like typical prescription drugs. Abortion providers would affirmatively “opt in” to be able to prescribe them. ‘New York Must Stop Disarming Its Religious Citizens’ Under New Court Order <[link removed]> - A federal court has blocked New York from enforcing a ban on the concealed carrying of firearms at houses of worship, ruling Thursday that the state law <[link removed]> likely discriminated against religious New Yorkers and may have violated the First Amendment. The state’s Democratic governor, Kathy Hochul, signed the legislation (S.51001/A.41001) in July, restricting concealed carry in “sensitive locations,” including houses of worship. Hochul signed the bill days after the U.S. Supreme Court struck down <[link removed]> a New York restriction <[link removed]> on concealed carry licenses. Heritage Expert: Tyler
