Good morning,

Here is the Texas Minute for Thursday, January 5, 2023.

Can Texas' Governor And Attorney General Do More On The Border?

According to border security experts, Texas state officials—specifically Gov. Greg Abbott and Attorney General Ken Paxton—can do more to protect Texas from the ongoing invasion. Sydnie Henry has the story [[link removed]].

“Waiting for the Biden administration to suddenly enact policies that will secure our border with Mexico is just foolish at this point,” said Kinney County Attorney Brent Smith [[link removed]] in an interview with Texas Scorecard.

The Center for Renewing America has laid out a step-by-step plan [[link removed]] to stop the invasion at the Texas-Mexico border and secure the state using Article I, Section 10, Clause 3 of the U.S. Constitution.

“James Madison saw invasion declaration powers as empowering states to repel smugglers, and Sam Houston saw the invasion declaration as empowering Texas with repelling Mexican bandits back into Mexico,” explained Wade Miller [[link removed]], the center's executive director.

“The only solution to ending this nightmare lies with Governor Abbott and the constitutional authority his office wields,” said Smith. “Only by invoking that authority and taking swift action can Texas be saved.” 🎥 Exclusive Documentary: Drag Shows Targeting Kids Available now for Texas Minute readers is Texas Scorecard's newest documentary, entitled " It's Not Gonna Lick Itself [[link removed]]." It is available on our website [[link removed]], YouTube [[link removed]], and Rumble [[link removed]].

This documentary [[link removed]] looks at the rise of drag shows targeting children with highly sexualized content.

It features an undercover reporter, who went inside to see what really goes on at these shows. The documentary [[link removed]] also includes insight from experts who describe how this hyper-sexualization affects those children forced to attend such events.

Katy Drollinger reviews [[link removed]] what the documentary covers.

Activists Demand Action On Drag Shows Targeting Kids

Grassroots organizations – including Texas Family Project, True Texas Project, and the state Republican Party – have all announced that one of their top priorities for the upcoming legislative session is to end drag shows targeting children. Soli Rice reports [[link removed]] on what they want lawmakers to do.

Fran Rhodes, president of the True Texas Project, wants lawmakers to “ensure that minor children are prohibited from attending sexually explicit entertainment events, specifically drag queen events.” Lawmakers Seek to Limit Texans' Gun Rights More than two dozen bills have been filed by Texas legislators ahead of next week's legislative session to create new restrictions on Texans' right to keep and bear arms. Soli Rice has the details [[link removed]].

Some of these measures would require reporting gun sales, banning certain guns, increasing gun taxation, and creating red-flag laws.

All were sponsored by Democrats, of course. 🔒 Donate to Texas Scorecard 🔒 [[link removed]] Number of the Day
