Not only did we raise over $80,000 to fuel the fight for abundant housing, but thanks to the power of the pro-housing movement, Congress included key housing investments in the omnibus spending bill for 2023.
The bill includes $85 million to reward state and local governments and planning organizations that eliminate or reform exclusionary zoning, discriminatory land-use policies, and other barriers to increase the supply of affordable housing. The bill also expands rental assistance vouchers to an additional 12,000 households targeted to individuals and families experiencing or at risk of homelessness.
While the fight is far from over, these investments are important steps toward a future when everyone has access to a stable, affordable place to live in a neighborhood of their choosing. And this win in Congress demonstrates just how much power we’ve built together.
