Yesterday, I was sworn into the United States Senate to serve Colorado for six more years. Now, it’s time to get back to work.

Coloradans sent me back to Washington because they see the same problems I do: a changing climate, a fragile democracy, a healthcare system that costs too much and covers too few, and an economy that helps those on top get further ahead but leaves everyone else behind.

Folks, let’s make this next term our best yet.

Let’s lift millions more children out of poverty by making the extended Child Tax Credit permanent.

Let’s create thousands of more jobs and continue tackling the climate crisis by investing more in green energy and environmental protection.

Let’s get back to work ending forty years of failed “trickle-down” policies and build an economy that works for all of us.

And let’s reject Donald Trump and his allies’ attempts to destroy our democracy.

That is what we worked for in this election, and we won. But yesterday’s swearing-in does not signal the end of our work — only a new beginning.
