john,

Yesterday, the 118th Congress officially convened to vote for the next Speaker of the House. While Kim and her Democratic colleagues united firmly around Representative Hakeem Jeffries, it was utter chaos on the Republican side.

For the first time in 100 years, a Speaker election required more than one floor vote after Kevin McCarthy failed to secure the votes needed – not once, not twice, but SIX times.

As of this moment, no Speaker of the House has been selected which means no member can be sworn in and no votes on legislation can begin until the process is completed.

The Republicans’ inability to unite around a Speaker is a preview of what we can expect over the next two years – infighting and politics being put before what's best for the American people.

Kim is ready to get back to work to fight for the issues that matter most to Washingtonians, but yesterday's votes prove more than ever how important it is that Democrats retake the House majority in 2024.

Will you chip in now to help Kim lay the groundwork necessary to build another winning campaign and help Democrats retake the House majority?
