John, what a way to start off 2023.
While I was supposed to get sworn in yesterday, that didn't go quite as planned.
Before I continue, it's clear that the other side is working their hardest to do anything but govern this year. This means we'll need to work even harder to tackle the issues that matter most to us, and that starts with having partners on every level. Will you donate today to help us build a strong coalition of support? [[link removed]]

Republicans won a narrow majority of the House during midterms this last November. But when it was time for them to vote for Speaker, no majority could be reached, and the House adjourned without one yesterday – something that hasn't happened in a century.
Two things are clear to me:
1️⃣ House Republicans have been taken hostage by their far-right extremists, and they're not interested in actually running the country.
2️⃣ House Democrats are united in delivering for the American people, and I will stand firm in my vote for Hakeem Jeffries.
He'll stand with me on immigration reform and helping our DACA recipients. Being the only member of Congress coming from a mixed status household, this is really personal for me.
I've talked about my mother, and how she came to the US pregnant with me, almost sacrificing her life as she swam across the Rio Grande.
I've talked about my husband, and how he came to the US when he was 14 – barely in 9th grade – to reconnect with his father and help his family living in poverty.
So I feel a personal responsibility to tackle this issue. I feel a personal responsibility to my mom, to my husband, but most of all, to the Dreamers across the country.
John, I'm ready to get to work. And to see extremists on the other side waste time that we could be spending tackling such an important issue is beyond frustrating.
So while I'm still Congresswoman-elect, I want you to know that I'm still working my hardest to be a strong voice for our community. I'll keep you updated on what happens next, but it's clear we need your support now more than ever. Will you pitch in what you can, and join Team Delia today? [[link removed]]
