John, we've been preparing for the start of Congress for weeks, but this isn't how we thought it would go.

Yesterday, on the first day of the 118th Congress, a divided, unorganized GOP failed to elect their new Speaker of the House and adjourned. On Day 1, our new Republican majority failed to get to work and put the people of this country first.

I wasn't sworn in yesterday. But whether it's today or in a few days, we're gon' be ready.
