The Office of Child and Family Services is recruiting additional Parents and Youth for the System of Care Steering Committee. Please consider outreaching families/ youth whom may be interested:

The System of Care Steering Committee, is working under the Empower ME System of Care Grant through SAMSHA, to improve Children?s Behavioral Health Services in Maine.?Members meet, virtually, on the third Thursday of each month from 3:30 ? 5:00 pm. Membership includes parents/caregivers and youth (ages 14-26 years of age).?

The System of Care Committee is seeking members in the following counties: Kennebec, Somerset, Penobscot, Piscataquis, Aroostook, Androscoggin, Oxford, Franklin, Waldo, Knox, and Hancock.

Maine Children's Behavioral Health Services (CBHS) believes that all children and families should be empowered to live safe, stable, happy, and healthy lives. The Empower ME System of Care (SOC) grant expansion received funds from the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) to focus implementation efforts in rural, historically underserved counties in Maine. Commitment: The SOC Grant will hold monthly meetings with the Steering Committee and Youth Subcommittee. Additional meetings may be scheduled as needed to ensure the completion of SAMHSA requirements and other Grant tasks. Our primary focus is the family-driven and youth-guided work and incorporating the System of Care principles (family-driven, youth-guided, individualized, strength-based, evidence-informed or evidence-based practices, culturally/linguistically competent, least restrictive environment, and community-based) in the work being done. The steering committee is working on recommendations that will improve the quality of MaineCare services.

Youth Subcommittee:

The Youth Subcommittee is comprised of the youth that sits on the larger System of Care Steering Committee. They meet on the fourth Tuesday of each month from 3:30 pm-4:30 pm. ?Please see committee flyer

Reimbursement: Adult and youth community member partners that attend SOC-supported meetings will be provided reimbursement of $50 for each full meeting they participate in. ?

Each new member will go through an onboarding process before attending committee meetings, in which they will receive a review of the grant, history, membership, charter, financial reimbursement, etc. ??
