Bold Letter Holds Israel Accountable for Demolishing Homes Dear Supporter, It’s hard to forget the heartbreaking scenes of Palestinians living in the East Jerusalem neighborhood of Wadi al-Hummus watch as Israeli forces demolished their homes while laughing and joking. This massive demolition of Palestinian homes last July was Israel’s “biggest crime of ethnic cleansing since 1967,” according to the Palestinian BDS National Committee. Now, some members of Congress, led by Reps. Ro Khanna (D-CA), Anna Eshoo (D-CA), and Steve Cohen (D-TN) are seeking to hold Israel accountable for this forced displacement of Palestinians. Click here to urge your representative to sign their important letter calling on the Secretary of State to investigate whether Israel violated US law by using Caterpillar bulldozers to demolish Palestinian homes. This letter is so important because it could actually hold Israel accountable for its human rights abuses of Palestinians. Unlike toothless resolutions or mere expressions of concern, this letter could trigger a process resulting in the United States ceasing to provide Israel with these bulldozers, which are paid for by US taxpayers. According to the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs the Israeli government increased its destruction of Palestinian homes in the West Bank by 40 percent in the first half of 2019 as compared to 2018.
