Elections can sometimes be popularity contests. And in the 2022 midterms, some of our Dem AGs were the most popular candidates across the country. Take two current AGs and Governor-Elects, Massachusetts’s Maura Healey and Pennsylvania’s Josh Shapiro. They won in landslide victories that brought together Democrats, Republicans, and independent voters.
We aren’t exaggerating when we talk about the broad appeal of Dem AGs. AG Shapiro ran with a strategy of meeting voters where they are and gained strong supporters in rural areas of Pennsylvania where Trump was heavily supported. AG Healey mobilized supporters across Massachusetts and stopped her Trump-loving opponent at the ballot box.
Most Americans agree with Dem AGs when it comes to defending democracy and abortion rights. Our candidates defeated every single election denier running for AG. Voters know that AGs work to protect their rights, keep their families safe, and take instant action when needed – this is why they get so much support at the ballot box.
Dem AGs fight for the people and work to fight against gun manufacturers, stand up for democracy, and protect abortion access. As they support some very popular stances amongst Americans, it’s unsurprising that Dem AGs are so well-liked.
Democratic AGs truly are “The People’s Lawyers” and DAGA is the only party committee devoted to electing more of them. Since 2016, we’ve won two-thirds of our targeted races, and we can't stop now – will you chip in today?
