No new zoos! Help to stop these plans from happening!

Dear John,

In recent news ([link removed]) , Reece Oliver - the controversial owner of ‘Strelley Wildlife Conservation Facility’ has submitted concerning plans to extend his small-scale, and so-called ‘private’ establishment, and build 27 guest cabins, restaurant and spa on the land which already houses numerous captive wild animals including big cats, spider monkeys and ring-tailed lemurs.
The application has been submitted to Broxtowe Council (reference 22/00892/FUL) and we only have until January 6th to submit objections and reject these cruel plans!

Therefore, we are urgently calling on our supporters to submit objections via the council form by this Friday, January 6th 2023!
TAKE ACTION NOW! ([link removed])

We know that private collections and zoos are cruel establishments ([link removed]) that can never provide the appropriate space or needs for the suffering animals held captive in them. And that is why we must take action for these animals today!

You can read more about the new plans and history of the zoo here:

Further plans have been submitted to turn Oliver's self-proclaimed 'private zoo' into a public attraction, and build a restaurant, spa and overnight/viewing accommodation, to allow future visitors to get up close and personal interaction with the animals.

This will cause immense stress to these already suffering individuals! Please help us take action today to stop these plans from being allowed to happen!

Reece Oliver is aiming to run his zoo for profit, and often claims in the press that the space he holds the animals captive now rivals many of Britain's largest zoos. Yet regardless of this, no zoo can provide the appropriate space or environment for animals to live a natural life, which is why so many individuals sadly develop problems arising from malnutrition, stress, illness and stereotypical behaviour. We must stop these plans from being approved!

The planning application is currently live and accepting comments on Broxtowe Council’s website. We have submitted an objection with the council and are now calling on our wonderful supporters to do the same!

You will find a draft objection on the action page ([link removed]) , which can be copied and/or amended to send to the council via their website. Unfortunately, objections must be sent using the council's online form, they will not accept objections via email.
TAKE ACTION NOW! ([link removed])

We have the animals at the focus of everything we do at Freedom for Animals. We know the suffering and damage captivity causes to innocent individuals, and so a new zoo even being a possibility in the 21st Century is unacceptable! Especially one run by an individual with such a chequered past in animal welfare issues.

As always, we appreciate your support and I apologise for the short notice in this important call to action! I will keep you updated on how this campaign goes.
