I must say, friend, I'm stunned by what's unfolding today.

I'm in Washington this week to officially be sworn into Congress. Instead, I've been watching the stalled House vote to elect a new Speaker of the House. If you haven't heard the news, the Republican Majority plunged into utter chaos on the House floor today and failed to elect a Speaker for the first time in a century.

Democrats unified behind Hakeem Jeffries -- who tallied the most votes of any nominee. But a total of 19 Republicans voted against Rep. Kevin McCarthy. That's a massive number, folks, and there's little indication McCarthy will win a majority after the third attempt -- which is now underway.

The GOP is in complete disarray headed into 2023, and it's a concerning sign for what Republican control of the House will look like: More chaos, discord, and gridlock.

The good news is that Democrats are unified and clear-eyed about the future of our country. Not only that, we’re now in a strong position to retake the House in 2024. But if we're going to do this, we need to send a resounding message -- especially today -- that our supporters are still here and ready to take on this challenge.

We need a wave of grassroots support right now to prove Democrats have what it takes to correct course in Washington. I’m hoping you'll show up with a $5 donation to help support my reflection effort, retake the House, and put an end to the MAGA extremism that we're up against.

Thanks for everything. More soon,

Eric
