Protecting Traditional Knowledge and Culture
The  World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) held the
40th session of the Intergovernmental Committee on Intellectual
Property and Genetic Resources, Traditional Knowledge and Folklore
(IGC) in June. NARF was there representing the National Congress of
American Indians.

IGC's work is focused on protecting traditional knowledge,
traditional cultural expressions, and genetic resources and the
associated traditional knowledge. In the June session, the IGC looked at
the scope of protection that could be provided and the potential
exceptions and limitations to the protections. Learn more about
these ongoing international efforts.

Join Our Team
Calling all lawyers... and almost-lawyers!

We currently have an opening for a staff attorney in our Boulder
(CO) office. Learn more and apply at our website.

Also, it is time for second-year law students to apply for our 2020
summer law clerk program. Helping develop well-qualified attorneys in
the field of Indian law is an important part of our work. Each year,
we conduct a nationwide search for law school students to
participate in clerkships and internships in our three
offices-Boulder, CO, Washington, DC, and Anchorage, AK.

You can meet our current team of summer law clerks on our Facebook
page. We are thrilled to have these talented, hard-working law
students with us for the summer!

A Commitment to Environmental Sustainability
NARF is committed to environmental sustainability through our
mission, work, and organizational values. Native Americans and other
indigenous peoples have a long tradition of living sustainably with
the natural world by understanding the importance of preserving
natural resources and respecting the interdependence of all living
things. One way we embrace this tradition is through sustainable
office practices that reduce our negative impact on our climate and
environment. See how we have been reducing our environmental impact.
