My campaign is kicking into gear for the final stretch, but I wanted to reach out to you today not to ask for money, but to remind you why I’m running to represent Texas in Congress.

Since Trump’s reckless decision to assassinate the second most powerful person in Iran, our country has been on the brink of war with one of the most powerful states in the Middle East. The safety of our men and women in uniform cannot and should not be a political football.

I’ve served in a combat zone. I know the human heartbreak that is war, and when I’m in Congress, I’ll work to prevent war, not irresponsibly incite it for political purposes.

As a mother whose son now serves in the Air Force, I can tell you, diplomacy by tweet does not keep America or our sons and daughters serving our country in uniform safe. We need to go back to intelligent, thoughtful foreign policy, not impulsive decisions that put American servicemen and servicewomen in danger.

Another endless war in the Middle East not only makes Americans less safe, but it distracts us from pressing foreign policy issues. Our elections were influenced by Russian agents, autocratic leaders continue to rise to power across the globe, and nightmarish climate disasters are becoming the norm.

Congress must reign in Trump’s irresponsible actions and stop this unnecessary military escalation.
