Don’t Be Misled
From the “Shame on Ami” Desk: It’s been 10 days now since blatantly misleading voter information was discovered on Ami Bera’s campaign home page. But despite being contacted by multiple reporters and constituents, his campaign refuses to correct it.
At issue: The home page falsely touts Bera as having won The Sacramento Bee endorsement even though The Bee has yet to endorse in this race. The claim appears immediately under a “Latest News” headline, leading most voters to assume the endorsement is breaking news in this primary. But dig further and you discover it’s a two-year-old endorsement. Shame.
So don’t be misled by Bera. Every day that passes without a correction makes clearer he’s fine openly misleading his constituents. This is why Jeff has filed official complaints with the House Ethics Committee and the California Secretary of State. Bera runs multi-million dollar campaigns and spent nearly $100,000 in Web and digital services last year, but he can’t update the digital face of his campaign? Or is this just the beginning of even more misleading marketing?
